Taiping Mountain was covered with early Friday snow in early Friday snow
The first snow of 2021 hit Mount Taiping in the northern Yilan district of Taiwan early Friday (January 1), turning the landscape into a magical winter wonderland.
According to the Luodong Forest District Office, a crowd started on Taiping Mountain around 7am on Friday and lasted for 30 minutes. Although temperatures in the area have fallen below 0 degrees C over the past few days, no snow has been observed due to a lack of moisture in the air.
The office says visitors have been waiting in line to enter Taiping Mountain Forest Park, which opens at 3:20 a.m. on New Year’s Day, starting Thursday evening. It says there is a 5km setback when the door is open.
The office said that traffic control measures were in place around 9 a.m. when a maximum number of 1,000 vehicles were allowed into the park. It said some snow had begun to melt before noon.
